Who Can Benefit from Tutoring?

Sawyer AP tutoring is for students currently taking A&P I or II who want help making sense of difficult material, preparing for exams, or improving how they study.

Course support

College, pre-nursing, and allied health students, including students returning to science after time away.

Concept connections

Students who understand individual facts but struggle to connect them, or who feel overwhelmed by the volume of material.

More efficient study

Strong students who are not failing can clarify confusing topics, prepare more efficiently, and deepen their understanding before major exams.

What Can We Work On?

Sessions may focus on one concept or several related A&P I or II topics.

  • Anatomy identification and terminology
  • Physiology concepts and mechanisms
  • Histology
  • Dissections and anatomical models using photographs
  • Lab identification practice using images of specimens, models, and other course materials
  • Body-system relationships
  • Exam preparation
  • Study strategies
  • Organizing large amounts of material
  • Connecting structures to functions
  • Working through confusing diagrams or course materials
  • Annotated dissection, specimen, and model photographs
Use the booking form to describe your course, topic, upcoming exam, or area of confusion. The more specific you can be, the more time the session can spend on actual learning instead of figuring out where the academic fire started.

How Does Online Tutoring Work?

Choose a session

Select a 30-minute Focus Session or 60-minute Deep-Dive Session.

Describe what you need

Share the topic, course, exam, or specific point of confusion on the booking form. Being specific allows Dr. Sawyer to review the topic and prepare useful examples before the session.

Meet through Google Meet

After booking and payment, the confirmation email includes the Meet link. Join from a computer or tablet with a reliable internet connection.

Work through it together

Use diagrams, digital whiteboarding, annotated images, specimen photographs, and model photographs to make connections.

Leave with a clearer plan

The goal is not merely to answer the immediate question, but to understand how the pieces fit together and approach similar material independently.

Have relevant notes, diagrams, study guides, or course materials available during the session.

30 Minutes or 60 Minutes?

Focused session

30-Minute Focus Session

$35

Good for:

  • one specific concept or question
  • a short list of related topics
  • clarification before an exam or quiz
  • focused lab-identification practice
  • a quick review of study strategy

This option works best when you already know what you want to cover and include that information on the booking form.

Book 30 Minutes
Deeper review

60-Minute Deep-Dive Session

$65

Good for:

  • difficult physiology mechanisms
  • several connected concepts
  • broader exam preparation
  • anatomy plus physiology integration
  • guided review of diagrams, dissections, models, or histology
  • building a stronger study plan
  • working through material in greater depth

This option allows more time for explanation, questions, visual examples, and connecting ideas across topics.

Book 60 Minutes
Current availability is shown on the secure booking pages. Payment is required when booking, and appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

How Should You Prepare?

  • Identify the exact topic or concept
  • Mention an upcoming exam, quiz, practical, or assignment
  • Gather questions and keep course materials nearby
  • Join from a computer or tablet when possible
  • Test your microphone, camera, and internet

You do not need a polished explanation. “I understand the cardiac cycle separately, but I cannot connect pressure changes to valve movement” is wonderfully useful.

What Tutoring Includes
